Faculty Enrichment Program (FEP)

American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS (American Councils) proposes a high-impact Faculty Enrichment Program (FEP) for 40 Uzbek university instructors to enhance their pedagogical skills and professional disciplinary expertise through a four-month U.S. academic enrichment program.

FEP supports the overarching goal of positioning the U.S. as a committed partner in a new strategic era of engagement with Uzbekistan by strengthening the educational ties and professional networks between the two countries. Recognizing the education system as a central pillar of economic and social progress, American Councils propose an FEP curriculum that will increase faculty exposure to pedagogical strategies and knowledge in their academic discipline. This learning will, in turn, empower teachers to increase classroom efficacy and teaching practices, better-preparing university students for high-skill positions in an evolving workforce.

FEP will provide eligible faculty members in such fields as agricultural science, biotechnology, energy and renewable energy, health care, and related professional disciplines, with an opportunity to spend a semester at a U.S. university engaging in curriculum development, exploring alternative teaching methodologies, expanding their knowledge in their field of study, developing collaborative projects and ongoing exchanges with the U.S. host universities, their faculty, and students, and gathering new teaching materials and resources.

American Councils will match FEP participants with academic programs at U.S. host universities appropriate to their field of expertise. Host universities will provide a faculty advisor to guide the FEP faculty member(s) in selecting appropriate courses, identifying conferences and seminars, familiarizing with the campus, and developing professional contacts in their field of study. The four-month FEP professional development program will be a non-degree program.
